Hi, I'm Inés...

When I was 15, I traveled twice to France on exchange programs and lived with local families for two months. That’s when I discovered something truly valuable: learning a language is not just about grammar. Even though I had an intermediate level of French, fear took over when I arrived. I was terrified of making mistakes and not being understood.

During the first few days, I barely spoke, and I remember how frustrating it was because I’m a sociable person, and staying quiet has never been who I am. Until one day, I realized I couldn’t spend two months like that. Little by little, I started speaking, with the help of the people around me, who listened even when my French wasn’t perfect, and I kept practicing. By being patient with myself, I eventually gained fluency in the language.

I learned that speaking a language doesn’t mean mastering its grammar. It means daring to put yourself out there, making mistakes, listening to different accents, and picking up expressions and gestures unique to the culture.

That experience shaped the way I teach today. I want my classes to be a space where you feel encouraged to overcome the fear of speaking Spanish and immerse yourself in the culture behind the language. Of course, we learn grammar, but always through conversation and real-life practice you can use in everyday situations. Because learning Spanish is so much more than studying rules, it’s about daring to live it.
